RICM Hero Images
It’s been an incredible experience photographing the hero images for the Rhode Island Computer Museum’s new “Data Storage” feature on their website. As part of a recently awarded humanities grant, RICM is developing a public-facing digital archive that traces the fascinating evolution of media storage—from early analog formats to the digital devices we use today.
I was thrilled to be part of this initiative, especially getting hands-on access to such a wide variety of storage media. From magnetic tapes to floppy disks, optical drives, and hard drives, each item told its own story about how we’ve preserved data through the decades.
To prepare for the shoot, I began by sketching out compositions that would not only showcase the objects themselves but also allow room for titles and copy to be seamlessly integrated into the website layout.
